Dehydrated Fruit Powders & Granules
Bensons have been involved with fruit-based ingredients for many years and now have a portfolio of powders, granules, and larger sizes, manufactured using a range of techniques. We have most fruits in organic as well as conventional forms.
Spray drying is the most popular type of powder, but we also have drum dried, freeze dried and vacuum dried.
All have their advantages and we would be delighted to discuss your requirements with you and suggest the most appropriate solutions.
VEBA – Italian Air Dried Fruit
Co-op Veba have been in business for over 50 years. Veba have a large selection of fruit, all grown under strictly controlled conditions and perfect for breakfast cereals and bars, both conventional and organic. All Veba’s fruit is sourced from Italian orchards, which total over 500 hectares of fruit, all carefully controlled. Each carton is marked with a unique barcode, so that each batch can be easily tracked and identify the grower that provided the fresh fruit used for each specific product.
The current range includes:
Apple, Pear, Peach, Apricot and Plum.
All are available in various sizes, from 3mm to 10mm. and are available in both conventional and organic forms.

Drum drying is done at higher temperatures than air drying, which reduces the microbiological count of the product, making it especially useful for applications such as baby food, where the TVC is an important factor. We also supply vegetable flakes and powder in this form. Please see the Vegetable section.
Our drum dried fruits include:

Infused Fruit
Some applications call for a softer fruit, which can be achieved by infusing the fruit with a sugar or fruit juice solution, often apple or orange.
We have a large selection of this type of fruit, including:
Apple, Beetroot, Blackcurrant, Blueberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Peach, Pear, Pumpkin, Raspberry, Rhubarb, and Strawberry.
Citrus Specialities
Israel is well known for the quality of its citrus fruit. We have joined up with one of Israel’s specialist processors to offer:
- Freeze Dried Powders, all 100% pure:
- Avocado, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, and Grapefruit.
- Spray dried Powders:
- Lemon Juice powder (Standard) – Maltodextrin carrier
- Lemon Juice powder (Clean label) – Pea or Potato starch carrier
- Lemon Juice powder (Modified) – Higher pH but less citrus flavour
- Lemon Juice powder (Higher acidity but no added Citric acid)
- Tomato powder – hot break
- Tomato powder – cold break
Freeze Dried Fruit
Freeze-dried fruits are very light and are easy to transport. They rehydrate almost instantly, so are often used in breakfast foods and cereal bars. Backpackers and hikers rely on freeze-dried fruits for a quick energy boost.
They are easy to eat, and freeze drying makes them smaller than their whole form. Another benefit of freeze-dried fruits is that they last for a long period without going stale.
